Short Role Description / Purpose:

 

The Associate Director, US Procurement drives and implements the strategy, planning, and category management of US spending. Through the continuous updating of extensive market knowledge, he/she is responsible for the sourcing, negotiation and overall management of suppliers for the US spending categories (e.g. sales and marketing, ICT, Travel, Compliance, HR, Logistics, Congress Logistics, etc.), ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures and according to the Group procurement strategy.

 

Long Description:

  • Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all key stakeholders to ensure that they understand the value procurement brings and sees you as a trusted advisor;

  • Perform spending analysis for the US spending areas (e.g. sales and marketing, ICT, Travel, Compliance, HR, etc.) to identify optimization opportunities (e.g. establishing framework agreements, price lists, preferred suppliers, etc.);

  • Develop category management strategy for the key spending category;

  • Lead the creation and execution of US sourcing strategies for multiple service categories including the development of prioritization, timelines, and value delivery (sourcing pipeline);

  • Responsible for sourcing, benchmarking and negotiating activities ensuring compliance with internal processes, continuous improvement in quality, service and total cost of ownership in line with business requirements; 

  • Drive and support strategic procurement projects (e.g. supplier rationalization, tail spend reduction

  • Identify suppliers and strategic partners by segmentation of spending based on risk, criticality, and volume of spending; 

  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with vendors to stay current with trends and technologies, products and services.

  • Work closely with legal and business leaders to drive contracts towards completion

  • Work together with Global Procurement Team to find spend synergies and optimization

  • Report US spend analysis and highlights to the Head of Global Procurement

 

 

Education:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Finance, Science, Supply Chain or a related field;

  • At least 5-7 years of buying for Biotech company or general procurement experience in pharmaceutical / healthcare business

  • Experience in similar role preferably in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical/Life-science sector.

 

 

Technical Expertise:

 

  • Languages: English (mandatory), Italian (preferred)

  • Knowledge of the main productivity and collaboration tools (Google Workspace, MS 

  • Office);

  • Knowledge of Procurement tools (e.g. SAP, ServiceNow, Jaggaer and Concur );

  • Knowledge of the biotech sales and marketing, logistics and corporate spend suppliers, products, and competitors;

  • Knowledge of key logistics biotech sales and marketing ' qualification, selection, and contract management 

  • Ability to network and negotiate with suppliers;

  • Lead the creation and execution of sourcing strategies for multiple service categories including the development of prioritization, timelines, and value delivery;

  • Possess decision-making, the ability to handle crisis and meet necessary deadlines;

  • Organization and planning skills required to execute multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changes in business requirements in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of the Procurement processes and capabilities , management process and Supply Chain Processes

 

Further Requirements:

 

• CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) certificate is preferred.

 

 

$140,000 - $174,000 a year

 

At Dompe, we offer an attractive compensation package to our team members. Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), incentive bonus, and benefits package customary to the position. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
