Job Description


The Payer Engagement Lead will report to the Vice President of Market Access, and will be responsible for leadership and management of payer and other assigned accounts. This leader will manage all aspects of payer, pathway, and other engagements and will devise and execute customer specific strategies to support the appropriate coverage of Dompe commercial product This position will integrate cross functionally with internal and external partners to ensure patient and provider access to support commercial launch and growth plans.
 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the Payer National Accounts team.
  • Lead the creation of the strategic and tactical business plan for payer/ customer engagement within Market Access.
  • Coordinate all other commercial team members involved in payer engagement, either contractors or full time employees.
  • Fully understand and stay abreast of the complex and changing U.S. payer, employer and channel landscape.
  • Analyze the market in terms of coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer policies, competitive landscape, trends, pricing, contracting strategies / trade-offs, potential barriers to provider, patient access, opportunities to influence improved outcomes and public policy matters.
  • Assist in the development of value propositions, programs, and market responses to better position and influence favorable access and patient persistency; achieve cost-effective, efficient delivery of products and services.
  • Utilize strong business acumen, comprehensive account and industry knowledge, and financial modeling to develop compelling proposals and negotiations strategies.
  • Develop and manage the national account plan with responsibility for positioning produc with key PBM, GPO, Payer customers and employers.
  • Work with managed care organizations to improve payer coverage. 
  • Develop and manage relationships with PBMs, GPOs national and regional payers and targeted employers.
  • Assist in aligning Market Access strategic and tactical plans to integrate with and achieve overall commercial strategic objectives and revenue forecasts
  • Elevate the professional expertise of the Market Access functional teams; develop and mentor staff, partner with other functional groups.
  • Oversee all National Account Management activities, including travel to National Account sites, sales territories and meetings as required.
  • Compliantly collaborate with all internal teams, including but not limited to sales, marketing, medical, to craft and refine accurate and compliant messaging to use with customers.
  • Collaborate frequently with cross functional partners (Clinical, Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Legal, R&D, Corporate).
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of various contracting strategies
  • Lead the effort to engage, negotiate and sign contracts that improve and optimize coverage
  • Support ad-hoc requests from leadership for additional analytics and strategies.
  • Identify opportunities and present recommendations to influence improved outcomes and public policy matters.

 

Required Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 10 years of managed markets experience, and 15 years total pharma/biotech/medical device experience
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Minimum 5 years negotiating/signing contracts and securing formulary coverage for products with US payers and PBMs, with a strong preference for someone who is still actively calling on customers currently, as opposed to someone who serves only in a supervisory capacity
  • At least 3 years of supervising customer facing field employees, preferably in the payer/PBM/GPO segments
  • Strong understanding of large National customers, their various business entities and how they work together 
  • Possess a strong network of EXISTING relationships across top 20 US payers and PBMs, particularly on the pharmacy benefit side
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision-making for formulary processes, bid cycle, coverage, coding, billing, and patient access to drugs, biologicals, medical devices
  • Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written and presentation abilities
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Masters degree in science or business related field
  • Therapeutic experience in rare disease
  • Therapeutic experience in Ophthalmology

 

$230,000 - $270,000 a year

At Dompe, we offer an attractive compensation package to our team members. Any offer would include a competitive base salary (estimate shared above), incentive bonus, and benefits package customary to the position. Actual individual pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
