Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Medical Affairs Training & Excellence is responsible for designing, building, and delivering the scientific and operational training and competency framework for Dompé's Medical Affairs organization. This individual ensures that MSLs, Medical Information specialists, and other Medical Affairs team members are scientifically current, operationally capable, and certified to engage HCPs, investigators, and KOLs  at the highest standard. Reporting to the Senior Director, Medical Affairs Strategy & Excellence, the Associate Director works in close partnership with Global Medical Leads, Medical Communications, Medical Information, and Patient Advocacy to ensure training content is strategically aligned, scientifically accurate, and consistently delivered across functions. The role sits at the intersection of scientific content and organizational capability, requiring both scientific fluency across Dompé's indication portfolio and the instructional design, program management, and change-management skills to scale training and excellence standards across a growing Medical Affairs organization.

Job Description:

Medical Affairs Training Program Design & Delivery
•    Design, maintain, and deliver a comprehensive Medical Affairs training curriculum covering onboarding, ongoing scientific education, competency development, and annual recertification
•    Deliver live training sessions (in-person and virtual) for new hires and existing team members across Medical Affairs, in partnership with Global Medical Leads and function leads
•    Maintain a training calendar aligned to the content development cycle, new data readout schedule, and annual recertification requirements across all Medical Affairs subfunctions
•    Build and manage a training LMS or equivalent tracking system to monitor completion, certification, and competency status organization-wide

Medical Excellence Standards
•    Define and maintain Medical Affairs-wide excellence standards, competency frameworks, and best-practice playbooks that apply consistently across Field Medical, Medical Information, and Medical Communications
•    Partner with Medical Affairs leadership to identify capability gaps across subfunctions and build targeted development programs to close them
•    Support change management and capability-building as new processes, systems, or governance structures (e.g., IIR, IME) are rolled out across Medical Affairs

Scientific Content & Stakeholder Partnership
•    Partner with Global Medical Leads and Medical Communications to source indication-specific scientific content for training programs, ensuring materials reflect the current scientific platform and approved labeling
•    Maintain training materials in real time following label updates, new data readouts, competitive intelligence updates, or changes to scientific exchange guides and Q&A documents
•    Develop clinical overviews, scientific exchange guides, and HCP/stakeholder engagement simulations in collaboration with Global Medical Leads and function leads across Medical Affairs
•    Contribute to new hire onboarding programs in coordination with HR and Medical Affairs leadership, ensuring scientific and operational readiness is built systematically from day one, across all Medical Affairs subfunctions

Field & Operational Infrastructure
•    Own administration and configuration of the MSL CRM platform (e.g., Veeva), including field structure setup, call reporting templates, and user access management
•    Maintain data quality standards for CRM entries, ensuring call notes, insights, and territory records are complete, accurate, and consistently categorized across the field team
•    Manage the field insights pipeline from capture in the CRM through categorization, tagging, and routing to Evidence Generation, Medical Communications, and Global Medical Indication Leads
•    Generate regular field insights reports and dashboards for Medical Affairs leadership, surfacing trends across therapeutic areas and geographies

Qualifications:

Required
•    Advanced degree in life sciences, pharmacy, or medicine (PharmD, PhD, OD, MSc, or equivalent); ophthalmology or rare disease experience preferred
•    Minimum 6 years of experience in medical affairs, medical communications, medical information, or field medical training within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
•    Demonstrated experience developing and delivering scientific training programs for MSLs or other Medical Affairs team members
•    Strong scientific writing and instructional design skills — able to translate complex clinical data into clear, engaging, field- and function-applicable training content
•    Experience managing a direct report or junior team member, with a demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
•    Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools and LMS platforms

Preferred
•    Prior experience as an MSL or in a field medical role, providing direct insight into field training needs and HCP engagement dynamics
•    Experience training across multiple Medical Affairs subfunctions (Field Medical, Medical Information, Medical Communications), ideally including both pre-launch and post-launch programs
•    Familiarity with ophthalmology, rare disease, or neurology therapeutic areas
•    Experience developing certification programs and competency assessment frameworks across a Medical Affairs organization, not solely for field teams

Competencies:
•    Scientific fluency: deeply understands the clinical and mechanistic landscape across Dompé's indications; translates science into accessible training content without sacrificing accuracy
•    Instructional design: applies adult learning principles to build training that is engaging, scalable, and measurably effective across multiple Medical Affairs functions
•    Organizational capability-building: sees training as one lever among several — alongside standards, playbooks, and change management — for raising the bar across Medical Affairs
•    Field empathy: understands what it means to engage a KOL in a one-on-one scientific exchange and designs training that prepares MSLs and other team members for real-world conversations
•    Project management: manages multiple concurrent training programs with precision — on time, on budget, and to standard
•    Collaboration: works effectively with Global Medical Indication Leads, function leads, field leaders, and external agencies without direct authority; builds trust through scientific credibility and reliable execution
