Discovery Biology Scientist - Fixed Term

For our company in Naples we are looking for a Discovery Biology Neuroscientist who will be involved in exploring, setting and performing cell-based assays in cell lines and primary cultures for the screening of small compounds and peptides.
 

Main areas of responsibilities

  • Study of target validation, mechanism of action, pathways analysis and development of cellular based assays using both cell lines and primary cultures obtained from animal models using immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, colorimetric techniques.
  • Coordinate outsorced projects. 
  • Work to tight deadlines and following instructions. 
  • Move in projects on different areas of interest and multi-focus capabilities on several projects. 
  • Present results in timely and clear manner, write reports and procedures. 
  • Work indipendently and be proactive in briging new ideas and solution, interact with colleagues and collaborators. 

 

Qualifications and other requirements

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Biology, Biotechnology and Pharmacology or proven track records and experience in any, but not only, of the following applications/fields: 3D biology, cell cultures and cell-based assays, neurogenesis and neuropathic pain mechanisms. 
  • At least four years of experience in cell biology research field and a thorough understanding of cellular functional assays using mammalian cells and of neural injury and regeneration.
  • Nice to have: previous working experience in a pharmaceutical company. 
  • Research experience in molecular biology, in western blot and real-time PCR would be advantageous.
  • Great passion and propensity for laboratory work and good mindset for data analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of cell cultures and cells maintenance, primary cultures from animal models and cells isolation.
  • Deep knowledge of cell-based assays, such as colorimetric assays (viability, citotoxicity, imaging, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry).
  • Deep knowledge of neural degeneration and injury.
  • Deep knowledge of data analysis software like graphpad. 
  • Good spoken and written English.
